Introducing World Chat: Connect and send money to real humans on World Network

Introducing World Chat, a new way to connect, chat and send money to humans on World Network.

World Chat is a Mini App that lets you connect to and chat with anyone on World Network wherever they are. It’s available in Beta starting today on World App. 

All World Chat conversations are end-to-end encrypted to preserve your privacy.

World Chat combines the Contacts tab, the World ID protocol and the World App wallet to enable features and functions that make World Chat incredibly useful. 

By connecting to World ID, World Chat allows you to know when you’re chatting with a verified human. Conversations with verified World ID holders feature a blue chat bubble as well as a unique World ID gem in the upper right corner. Conversations with non-verified accounts feature a grey chat bubble and no such gem. 

Additionally, because World Chat is integrated seamlessly with the World App wallet, it means you can send and receive crypto to and from anyone in the world as easily as sending a picture. 

World Chat puts the power of Mini Apps and World Network on full display.

Mini Apps are web applications built right into World App, which gives them instant access to over 24 million World App users and [11 million] verified humans. There are now over 100 Mini Apps available, and there were more than 250 million Mini App opens in the first two months of 2025. During this same period, World Chain was regularly maintaining the highest UOPS/TPS ratio of any Ethereum blockchain. This provides a strong signal that World Chain is mostly comprised of real humans using apps and not bots doing automations. 

Using World’s SDKs, Mini App developers can leverage the power of the World ID protocol, the World App wallet (now with over 275 million total transactions) and Contacts to easily integrate proof of human and digital finance into their applications and services, opening up a wealth of new opportunities for builders.

Developers can also now incorporate World Chat into their Mini App, so that their users can easily invite and chat with their friends without ever leaving World App

To help more builders create Mini Apps, World and FWB, the premiere culture DAO, teamed up with Alchemy, Bain Crypto Capital, Blockchain Capital and Variant Fund on a first-of-its-kind incubator called World Build.

The program, which kicked off in January and runs until May 2025, is an opportunity for builders to combine the power of Mini Apps and the distribution of World Network with hands-on support and mentorship. Over 150 builders participated in the global hackathon in February, with twelve teams from the hackathon selected to attend an immersive build retreat in Buenos Aires to bring their Mini App ideas to life, from payments and ticketing to wellness and AI.
