Getting Started: How to claim Worldcoin
World Network’s approach to distribution is refreshingly straightforward—verified humans may opt in to claim Worldcoin. There are two paths to claim WLD.
Two Ways to Verify, Two Ways to Claim
Orb verification provides you with a proof of human, unlocking the highest amount of WLD tokens you may claim. Adding a World ID Credential using your NFC-enabled passport or government ID offers a faster, more accessible alternative and does not require Orb verification.
The Claiming Process
Claiming is simple and separate from proof of human verification. First you need to download the Worldcoin Mini App on the homescreen of World App. Once downloaded, you can tap "Claim now" to claim the first installment of your Worldcoin. Over the next 11 months, you’ll be eligible to claim the remaining installments. After claiming, you can choose where your tokens go: Spending (ready for immediate use) or, where available, the Vault (earning rewards at a rate of 10% APY).
Important timing note: Claims expire, so set monthly reminders or opt in to receive push notifications. Miss a cycle, lose the opportunity to claim those tokens permanently. Only Orb-verified humans and or individuals who have added a World ID credential can claim WLD in World App.
Use Worldcoin in Mini Apps
Mini Apps are apps created by third-party developers for use within World App. You know how you can download apps in the app stores for Apple and Android phones? Mini Apps are like that, but they sit within World App and are optimized for privacy. Thanks to an integration with World ID, Mini Apps don’t track your activity across other applications.
Mini Apps include everything from Polls for verified human voting, to microlending for verified humans, to apps that utilize World ID to prove you’re human on social media networks. You can use WLD in Mini Apps in a number of ways including buying gifts or eSIMs for your phone.
Move Digital Assets: Ramps & Swaps Made Simple
Once you've accumulated WLD, you may want to convert it to traditional currency. This is where "ramps" come in—third-party services that bridge digital assets and traditional finance within World App.
You may also wish to exchange your WLD for other tokens (where you “swap” one kind of token for another). Swaps are enabled and completed onchain through third party platforms such as liquidity pools or other crypto applications.
Buy More Tokens
Purchasing tokens works similarly in reverse. Whether using Digital Dollars already in your wallet or external payment methods like bank transfers or Apple Pay, the flow is consistent: Wallet → Buy → select token and payment method → complete through a third-party provider.
Pro tip: Always note which provider you're using during purchases or withdrawals. This information becomes invaluable if you need support later.
Grow Your Network: The Power of Referrals
World Network’s referral system rewards you for inviting others to the network. The concept is elegant: invite friends, they verify their humanness, and everyone benefits.
Send Invites That Actually Work
Sending invites happens through the dedicated Invites Mini App. You can share your unique code directly or sync contacts to invite specific friends. The app generates invite links automatically, making sharing effortless.
The Critical Timing Element
Invite codes must be redeemed before making an Orb appointment or getting verified. New users can simply tap "Accept Invite" from your link. Existing users need to go to Settings → Redeem Invite and enter the code manually.
Miss this timing, and the referral reward disappears—no exceptions.
Tracking Your Network Growth
Monitoring your invites becomes engaging through the Invites Mini App, where you can see who you've invited and their verification status. It's particularly satisfying watching friends move from "invited" to "verified" status.
Remember: Invite rewards vary by location and aren't available everywhere. Where available, rewards typically appear in the Mini App's Rewards tab after your friend completes Orb verification.
