World ID Credentials, with access to WLD tokens, now available in more countries

Update: As of July 22, 2025, this blog has been updated to reflect expanded availability of World ID credentials.

World ID Credentials, which were introduced at the “A New World” event in San Francisco, are now available in more countries including Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Japan, Malaysia,South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

This secure and anonymous World ID feature significantly increases global access to World Network and paves the way for increased World ID utility.

Here’s how it works.

What are World ID Credentials?

World ID Credentials allow an individual to connect valid forms of ID (starting with NFC-enabled passports) to their World ID in order to prove things about themselves — beyond that they are a real and unique human — without sharing any personal information with Tools for Humanity, World Foundation or any other third party.

For example, a World ID holder could prove they meet an age requirement for a dating app without sharing their birthdate or any other personal information from their ID.

All of the information is securely stored on the consumer’s device, and only on their device. Learn more about World ID Credentials privacy and security here.

What are the benefits of adding a credential?

Credentials can be added to a person’s World ID whether or not they have verified their unique humanness at an Orb, and they have multiple important benefits:

  1. Credentials enable people, including the world’s estimated 1.2 billion passport holders, who may not be close to an Orb but who have valid forms of identification to join and benefit from World Network more meaningfully.
  2. Credentials allow people to go beyond proof of human to anonymously prove select things about themselves (such as proof of age, nationality, etc.).
  3. Credentials give World ID holders the option to claim additional WLD tokens where available, whether or not they’ve had a chance to verify their uniqueness at an Orb.

World Foundation is making WLD tokens available to individuals with a valid World ID Credential.

Who can use World ID Credentials?

World ID Credentials is available on both iOS and Android for individuals with NFC-enabled passports from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States who are currently located in those countries.

Access to World ID Credentials is set to expand to additional countries and identity documents in the near future.
