World flagship opens in Munich, Germany

World Munich Flagship

World recently opened the doors to its Munich flagship at Hofstatt, a community space that brings the real human network to one of the countries where the project first took shape. Located steps from Marienplatz, the space introduces proof of human verification to a community that has shaped the privacy and trust principles upon which World is built.

A homecoming of sorts

Few countries are more central to the World story than Germany. Much of World’s founding team and co-founder, Alex Blania grew up in Germany where he and the early team designed and engineered the first prototypes of what would become the Orb

Opening a flagship in Munich is, in many ways, a return to the place where the vision and work started.

A space built for conversation

World Munich Flagship

The Munich flagship is designed to serve as a community space where people can spend time, ask questions, and learn what private proof of human really means and why it is increasingly important. Floor-to-ceiling glass invites passersby in. Natural light fills the room. Plants, couches, and large communal tables encourage people to linger. A large screen anchors the space, with plans to host events ranging from yoga sessions to community meetups.

Visitors do not need to be verified humans to enjoy the space. Many of the people who walk in simply have questions: What is World? Why does it matter? How does the technology actually work? The flagship is built to answer those questions in person, with no pressure.

Proof of human, built for a privacy-first country

Germans value privacy, and Munich's tech community is among the most discerning in Europe. World was built with these expectations in mind.

Proof of human is a way of confirming that someone is a real, unique person without revealing who they are. At the heart of the verification is the Orb, a custom-built device that confirms unique humanness in seconds. The image captured during verification is processed on the device itself and is never stored by World. What remains is a private credential that lives only on the individual's phone, controlled entirely by them. World never learns a person's name, email, or any other personal information based on this credential.

The result is a credential people can use to prove they are real online without surrendering anything about themselves. In a country that has consistently led on digital rights, this approach is engineered to meet the moment.

Why it matters now

The challenge of distinguishing real people from sophisticated AI has become one of the defining questions of the decade. From dating platforms to ticketing, from gaming to financial services, the assumption that the person on the other end of an interaction is human is increasingly hard to take for granted.

The real human network offers an answer. By giving people a private way to prove they are real, World makes it possible to build online experiences where humans get the first ticket, the genuine connection, and the authentic reward.

Munich, with its mix of engineering depth, civic-mindedness, and cultural openness, is a fitting place to bring that network to life.
