World, the largest human-centered financial and identity network, is now available in the Philippines, a country fueled by a young, digitally savvy population and an emerging middle class eager to adopt new technologies and financial solutions.
World ID Orb verifications are available in select cities in the province of Bulacan, just outside Manila, as it prepares for nationwide availability. Implementations so far have been conducted as pilots in private settings but will soon be available to the broader public with publicly visible verification locations as part of the country’s rollout.
World ID offers Filipinos a free, secure and anonymous way to join World Network. With a verified World ID, Filipinos can join the more than 23M World Network participants, including [11 million] verified humans, who have the ability to prove their humanness online, manage AI agents and combat bots, misinformation and deep fakes.
Providing tools for a better internet in the age of AI
The Philippines is ranked number one in social media users globally, and 96.2% of Filipino internet users aged 16-64 use Facebook on a monthly basis for news, business and networking. Filipinos are also among the most prolific early adopters of artificial intelligence, with 86% of Filipino knowledge workers integrating AI into their workflows.
This mix of a strong social media presence and rapid AI adoption has highlighted the need for new tools to help protect Filipinos online.
Between 2022 and 2023, deepfake-related identity fraud cases surged 4,500% in the Philippines, and reports of spikes in bot-driven misinformation and high-profile fraud and cybercrime cases continue as the country approaches a crucial midterm election in May.
World ID offers Filipinos a way to anonymously prove their humanness online. This helps protect against fraud and misinformation by enabling people to know what accounts and information online have been created by real humans and not AI-powered bots.
Additionally, World ID will also be able to help protect Filipinos from deep fakes thanks to World’s recently announced Deep Face technology powered by Face Auth.
How Filipinos can join and benefit from World’s human-centered identity and financial network
Filipinos can join and participate in World Network by downloading World App and verifying their humanness via the Orb, World’s cutting-edge camera. This will allow them to enjoy the full benefits of World, including access to a free allotment of WLD tokens* and the use of World ID, the World App wallet and new Mini Apps.
World Network is designed with privacy at its core. Thanks to World’s Personal Custody, Filipinos retain full control of the information used to verify their World ID. It is securely stored only on their device, never with World or with any third party. World also uses advanced technologies like Anonymized Multi-Party Computation and zero knowledge proofs to keep participants’ data private and actions anonymous.
