How to claim your monthly WLD airdrop (formerly grants)

Sep 15, 2025 3 Minute Read

In countries where it’s available, verified World ID holders may opt in to claim monthly WLD tokens.

The Claiming Process

Claiming is simple, but separate from the proof of human verification process. First you need to open the Worldcoin Mini App on World App homescreen. If it’s not already there, download it from the Mini Apps store. Once inside, tap "Claim now" to claim the first installment of Worldcoin (WLD). Over the next 11 months, you’ll be eligible to claim the remaining installments (a total of 12 installments). After claiming, you can choose where your tokens go: Spending (ready for immediate use), or where available, Vault (earning rewards at a rate of 10% APY).

Here’s a step-by-step guide to how it works.

Claiming WLD tokens

Step 1: Download a wallet

The first thing you’ll need to do to claim monthly WLD tokens is download a World ID-compatible wallet like World App, built and operated by project contributor Tools for Humanity.

Step 2: Prove eligibility

Verify your unique humanness by visiting an Orb, or add a valid NFC-enabled passport or government ID, in countries where this is available – you can also combine both methods. All of the information is securely stored on your device, and only on your device – no third parties have access to it, preserving your privacy and anonymity.

Find orb verification locations in World App or on the World website

Step 3: Open the Worldcoin Mini App

Once you have a wallet and a recognized credential attached to your World ID, open the Worldcoin Mini App. You might need to download the Worldcoin Mini App from the Mini App store. When you do this, you’ll be able to see the total amount of WLD tokens you may be able to claim over the course of 12 months.

Even if you don’t yet have an Orb-verified World ID or didn't add an available government ID, you can still see the amount of WLD tokens you would be eligible to claim. This number is the same for everyone around the world at any given time*, and it is updated live every second until you verify your World ID.

World does not purchase or exchange tokens for personal data, including iris data. There is absolutely no exchange of money or tokens when a person verifies their World ID. Claiming WLD tokens is a separate and completely voluntary process.

Step 4: Claim your first token amount

24 hours after you have verified at the Orb or after you have added a World ID credential, you can claim your first token amount in the Worldcoin mini app.

Step 5: Claim remaining tokens monthly

The remaining WLD tokens will be unlocked gradually over the course of one year. Each month, on the day you opted in to claim WLD, a new portion of tokens will be unlocked. This means they are now available to claim to receive in your wallet.

Any unlocked tokens that you don’t claim by the following month will expire and return to the community pool.

Using World App, you can always see the total WLD available to be claimed, track the progress as it gets unlocked over time, and see when tokens will unlock next. You can also optionally enable reminders so you don’t forget to claim when they do.
